NLC urges Taraba workers to continue strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Taraba state has urged striking workers in the state to remain resolute until their demands are met.

Despite appeals by the state traditional council and the withdrawal of the suit instituted by the state government, the workers have refused to budge and are insisting on the implementation of their five-point demand.

 

Registered voters now 65m, says Jega

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, has said that, the commission has so far, registered 65.2 million voters, for the April general elections.

Jega, who stated this, when he received the British Minister for Africa, Henry Bellingham and the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Lloyd, in Abuja yesterday, said, the figure is expected to soar, to about 66 million, at the end of compilations today.

The 27 students who took part in a riot, while protesting the non-payment of their bursary allowance by the Kwara state government, were yesterday, granted bail by an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court.

A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday fixed Thursday,   February 17, for   judgement in the suit filed by a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, Alhaji Abdulrasak Kutepa, against the emergence of Alhaji Jibril Isah Echocho as the PDP governorship candidate.
