A day to the presentation            of the National Honour, I was sitting at home with my family when I received a call from the Chief of Staff to the SFG, to submit my CV at the International Conference Centre. It was in the evening.

Professor Fatima Ja'afar Tahir is of the Micro Biology department at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. Professor Fatima, who is Director of the Human Resource Directorate of the University, spoke on the plethora of problems bedevilling the education sector, including emphasis on paper qualification rather than ability and capability, hiring of people to write exams, JAMB anomalies, overstretched facilities, mass failure and almajirci system, among sundry issues, in this interview with Ahmed Kaigama.  Excerpts
