Islamist militants behind a growing insurgency in northern Nigeria have links in government and the ability to extend their attacks to previously safe parts of the country, Nigeria's national security adviser has warned.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has upgraded it Press Unit to a full-fledged Public Relations Division with additional responsibility of facilitating mutual relationships with major stakeholders as well as members of the public on activities of the agency.
