FIRS to go after tax defaulters

Individuals and companies that fail to make their tax returns will be dealt with beginning from this week. The Federal Inland Revenue Service made this known through its Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mrs. Ifueko Omogui-Okauru, who disclosed this last Thursday.

Non-oil taxes generated N1.5tr in 2011, says FIRS

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has said non-oil taxes collected last year hit N1.51trn, a feat it attributed to the ongoing reform drive to reposition the Nigerian tax system.

States can survive on IGR- FIRS

After the recent announcement by Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) that the President, Vice-President, governors and their deputies would have to pay tax on their income based on the Amended Personal Income Tax Act, the agency has stated that all states of the federation have potentials to survive on Internally Generated Revenue and taxation if the right parameters are set out for them.

Most Nigerian critics don’t pay tax- Jonathan
