With the defection of the Kano state Deputy Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo from the ruling party in the state, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at this crucial stage, the political landscape in the state has further been altered, especially as he made the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list clearing him to contest the forthcoming polls.

Leaders of opposition parties in Kwara state, under the auspices of the The Kwara Patriots (TKP) and Kwara state Stakeholders Forum (KSSF) have adopted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the state, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, as their candidate for the forthcoming election.

Briefing newsmen, yesterday in Ilorin, the groups, led by Chief Wole Oke, said their defection, was based on the need to ensure the emergence of a credible candidate as the Governor of the state.

Oke said, the groups had earlier pitched tent with the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) after they left the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), adding that, “the CPC has turned out to be a transit camp for us.”

 

NANS wants Sokoto gubernatorial appeal revisited

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)                 has urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Supreme Court to urgently revisit the Sokoto state gubernatorial dispute between the incumbent Governor, Aliyu Wammako and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) candidate, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi.

 

Submission of candidates: NPC condemns INEC on deadline

The Nigerian Peoples Congress (NPC) has condemned the refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the nomination of candidates of about 20 political parties, on the premise that, the parties meet the deadline for submission of the forms.
