The distribution of the 'Jonathan gift' (money) continued Friday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed and his wife, Aisha Bala Mohammed, giving out huge amounts of money and other items to prospective voters.

The purpose, obviously, was to induce voters in the territory to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in yesterday's election, Peoples Daily Weekend gathered.

We further learnt that persons who got the money were asked to surrender their voter's cards.

A throng of young men and women stormed the Minister's Life Camp residence with the expectation of receiving nothing less than N6,000 each, the same amount allegedly given out earlier on Wednesday and Thursday.

The items being distributed to included bags of rice, soap, salt, sugar, and bottle palm oil, all part of the desperation of the Jonathan and PDP camp to ensure victory for the president.

Our reporter who hid in the huge crowed awaiting the Minister's largesse gathered that the Minister saw different groups of people as early as 7 am Friday.

The first groups that entered the Minister's residence included party executives from Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari, and Abuja Municipal council areas as well as district heads.

All efforts to get one of the party executives to reveal the amount of money each Area Council received did not yield much as he refused to utter a word.

Gathering from conversations of women who also benefited from Jonathan's 'goodwill', ', Peoples Daily Weekend, however, learnt that N4,000 was given to each group member.

The women said that they would vote for President Jonathan because, as according to them, he had given them money.

However, they accused those in charge of the distribution of the money and items of cheating them out of the money, referring to the difference between what they received and what others before them got.

It was gathered that the same PDP had earlier distributed N5,000 and a bag of rice to each group of tricycle (KEKE NAPEP) drivers at various parks.

Another group of the FCT residents that were locked out of the minister's gate, patiently waiting for their turn to collect N4,000 and other items of the 'Jonathan gift'.
