Secretaries of FCT to know fate soon |
By Josephine Ellah The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator Bala Muhammad, has said that he would soon decide whether to reconstitute the Secretaries of the mandate Secretariats or sack them. He gave the hint during an extra-ordinary FCT Executive Committee meeting in Gwarimpa I District (Life-Camp), Abuja. In a release made available to Peoples Daily by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Hazat Sule, the minister disclosed that he was “making consultations and decision would soon be taken on whether to retain or reconstitute them.” He reiterated that his administration must succeed in the mandate given to him by the Federal Government, stressing that “I am not in the FCT Administration for social gathering but to serve the people of Nigeria”. Assuring that he was also not in the FCT to witch hunt anybody, he stated, that the job must be done, even as he warned that saboteurs would not be spared. He, therefore, called for maximum cooperation from all cadres of staff of the administration. According to him, “it is not going to be business as usual because we must have a road map and set targets that must be achieved.” The minister lamented that land administration in the FCT has been under severe criticisms, noting, the yearnings of Nigerians must be met in this regard, and advised land racketeers in the FCT to quit the illegal business as his administration would deal with them decisively. He then called on the entire staff to join hands with him, put personal interest aside and provide qualitative services to the residents of the F CT. “This administration and the previous ones are the same, but with different challenges and mandate. So my doors will be opened to all, for useful suggestions on how to best move Abuja forward,” he stated. The meeting was attended by the FCDA Executive Secretary, Engineer Muhammad Sani Alhassan, and Secretaries of the seven mandate Secretariats as well as the Directors of the FCT Operational Departments.
