Group holds pre-planting season workshop for farmers

In a bid to boost harvest, an NGO, Food for All International (FFAI), has held a pre-planting season workshop for farmers in Rivers state. Speaking at the opening of the workshop, in Port Harcourt, on Thursday, FFAI’s Human Resources Manager, Mrs Queen Karibi-Botoye, said the essence was to equip farmers with knowledge of modern farming techniques.

How hybrid rice farming has transformed Yobe farmers

Three months ago, farmers working on the Yobe/Korean irrigation farm project in Garin Gada, under the harsh harmattan weather, wore grim faces. Some were weeding the rice, wheat and vegetable farms which had been planted earlier, while others were planting the newly cleared fields. As they worked, they re-collected, with pains, the poor harvests they had recorded over the years. This, of course, had arisen from the gross decline in rainfall across the state.
