From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi
Thirteen members of Kebbi state House of Assembly has threatened to withdraw their candidature to re-contest for their seats on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in solidarity with their colleagues, who lost at the party’s primaries.
The members, in a letter addressed to the state PDP chairman, accused the party of breaching an earlier agreement where it was agreed that all the lawmakers would be granted automatic ticket to re-contest for their seats.
They threatened that, based the ill treatment meted to their colleagues, who failed to secure their tickets, those of them that won their primaries have decided not to re-contest in the April elections except if the issue was addressed.
Out of the 19 members in the House, who are all of PDP, six lost at the party’s primaries, while 13 scaled through.
