From Bala Nasir, Kano
The Police and gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect yesterday engaged in a shootout when the gunmen attacked a police post in the Old Shagari Quarters in the Kano metropolis.
Sources said the shootout lasted for over 20 minutes before the gunmen withdrew. Following the recent destruction of some other police stations in the recent attacks by the sect, some police units were sent to the post at the Old Shagari Quarters where they were also attacked yesterday.
As at press time, it extent of the attack was not known as the police has yet to make pronouncement on the attack. However, sources said there were no casualties in the attack.
