Hauwa Ali Dodo

It was supposed to be a day of thanksgiving, but January 1, 2010 became a sad one for both Kannywood /Nollywood industries and especially, her family. She died in a ghastly motor accident on her way back to Kano State through the Jos - Saminaka road.

Before her death Hauwa Ali Dodo, 35, fondly known and addressed as Biba Problem, has had a good romance with the Hausa movie industry. This despite her youthful age goes to show that she is part and parcel of the Hausa movie industry otherwise known as Kannywood.

She died living behind her brothers, sisters and aged father Malam Ali Dodo.

Comments:

Meanwhile, her Tundum Wada Residence in Kano State has been visited by various individuals and groups. Here are comments from her family and Kannywood Chairman.

Abba Al-Mustapha (Chairman of Kannywood Actors Association)

Malam Ali Dodo (father): “Hauwa is the fifth child in the family with Adamu as the eldest son followed by Sadiya, Umar and Dr. Ibrahim. She was so much happy with every member of the family. She couldn't hide her joy seeing any of her brothers and sisters.”

“However, it was shocking when I heard about her death. If not for the fact that I am a Muslim who has faith in God, and believes in destiny whether good or bad, I could not have been the same again. But I know that it is only God that gives and takes life. I however, pray for the repose of her soul and her mother who died about nine years ago.”

Sadiya Dodo (sister):

“We lost our sister and our mother even though she is younger, but she had taken the position of our mum. She is hard-working, humble, simple, caring and adoring. All her life, Hauwa quarreled no one. She never felt too big to say sorry. We will forever remember her for all her good qualities.”

Umar Ali Dodo (brother):

“Hauwa among all my brothers and sisters was the closest to me. She was so emotionally attached to me and my children that no matter the situation, she would find time to visit us in my house. Every Sallah, she would come and pick my children to her house and stay with them for some time before she took them back. The kids who found love in her equally loved her so much that they always talk about her. Even last Eid-el Fitr, Hauwa took them all of them to Kazaure to witness the durbar there. She planned again during the last Eid-el Kabir, but God did not allow it to happen.”

Hamisu Lamido Iyan-Tama (Kannywood actor):

“Hauwa Ali Dodo's death does not affect her family alone. We in the film industry and all those who understand and speak Hausa language also have lost a gem in the industry. This is because she is among the very best, who through her movies, have been able to transform the lives of people the world over. All we need do now is to pray that God grants her eternal rest in paradise.”

Abba Al-Mustapha (Chairman of Kannywood Actors Association):

“I was actually sending text messages to colleagues, reminding them to pray for a late colleague, Ahmed S. Nuhu who died exactly three years ago, when somebody called to say Hauwa is dead. It was shocking and unbelievable. We lost a good colleague, but all we can do, is to pray that her gentle soul rest in peace until we meet again.”

Afak Allahu (Public Relations Officer of Kannywood Producers Association):

“It is all over, but it will take a whole lot of time to fill the wide vacuum left behind by Hauwa Ali Dodo. We forever remain prayerful in supplication to grant our distinguished member Jannatul- Firdaus.”
