What’s the meaning of Nigeria?

I gave a female university vice-chancellor a lift from Abuja airport recently. She diverted me off my course because she had an appointment to see another VC. Since female VCs are a rarity in Nigeria, I readily agreed to give a ride to this one with whom I attended secondary school together, hoping to receive a heroic reception.  But it was not to be.
