New face of reproductive health in Bauchi

A few years ago, statistics from Bauchi State showed it had just about the worst rating in maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria. For instance, 1,559 pregnant women died from pregnancy-related complications in every 100,000 live births in the state, while the national average was between 700 and 800. Data further showed that under-five mortality rate stood at 260 per 1,000 infants, as against the national average of 80.
