Senator-elect for Kaduna central, Gen. Muhammed Sani Saleh (rtd), has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its performance in the just concluded National Assembly election.
Saleh, who won the election on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), gave the commendation in Kaduna while addressing newsmen shortly after he was declared winner, having defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hamisu Abubakar.
Saleh, who described the election as relatively free and fair, expressed satisfaction and commended the general performance of INEC, security agencies and the electorate, who turned out en mass to exercise their franchise.
“INEC has performed creditably well this time around, very commendable, I hope this will be repeated in subsequent elections.”
“CPC as a new party has done relatively well, we will not relent in our efforts to capture more areas in the next election, we are hopeful of also capturing Kaduna North senatorial district.”
“I am hopeful that CPC will emerge victorious in the presidential election as Nigerians are committed to electing credible and trustworthy leaders who will meet the aspirations of the people who elect them,” the Senator-elect said.
Saleh pledged to contribute towards strengthening of the oversight functions of the Senate and the development of his constituency in particular and Nigeria in general.
He expressed appreciation to his opponent for giving a good fight and urged him not to take the defeat as a setback and extend a hand of fellowship to take the constituency to a greater height.
