Coordinated bomb attacks have rocked the Abuja and Kaduna offices of ThisDay newspaper. The attacks which occurred at about 11 am this morning caused pandemonium as both offices are situated in business areas in both cities.
Our reporter who visited the scene of the Abuja blast, witnessed a scene of devastation within the premises of the newspaper company. Splinters of glass, pulverized concrete, destroyed cars and burning engines and generators littered the premises. Horrendous pieces of violently chopped off human remains were also seen. Surrounding building had their glass doors and windows shattered. Pandemonium reigned as people ran to and fro the scene of the blast.
Rescue workers arrived the scene to evacuate the injured to hospitals while contingents of policemen and other security agencies mobilised to the building to maintain order. Traffic congestion also occurred as policemen diverted vehicles to alternate routes away from the scene.
Reports from Kaduna also indicated that the complex targeted houses the offices of ThisDay, The Sun and The Moment newspapers. Further details on casualty figures are being awaited.
Meanwhile, nobody had claimed responsibility for the attack.
