Deputy Governor of Bauchi state, Alhaji Babayo Garba Gamawa, has picked the ticket under the platform of PDP to contest for the Bauchi north senatorial district in the forthcoming general election.
Babayo Gamawa emerged winner by polling 1, 862 votes to beat Aminu Ahmed Yapeko, who polled 37 while Farouk Mustapha and Hamisu Muazu Shira, all pulled out of the race.
In Ningi, the former House of Representatives leader, Abdul Ahmed Ningi, scored a total of 1,113 votes to clinch the Bauchi Central Senatorial ticket, beating a one-time Senator, Bala Adamu Kariya, who scored 291 votes, while Ibrahim Hassan scored 21 votes and Hamman Misau scored 32 votes.
For Bauchi South Senatorial seat, the incumbent, Adamu Ibrahim Gumba, who was elected to complete the term vacated by the present Minister of FCT, Bala Mohammed, was given the ticket by the delegates, to run for a second term, at the expense of former Senator, Abubakar Maikafi, as well as a one-time INEC National Commissioner, Mohammed Abubakar.
Also, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abubakar Ahmed Faggo, has won the primaries to re-contest for the state legislature.
In a related development, the member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, Mustapha Ahmed Charlie, lost his bid to get the PDP ticket for re-election, as he was defeated by Garba Dahiru, a former Finance Commissioner under Isa Yuguda led administration.
The incumbent Chairman of Giade local government, Adamu Bello won the ticket for the Shira\Giade Federal Constituency, while Mohammed Tukur Adamu clinched the ticket for Alkaleri\Kirfi Federal Constituency, just as Husseini Abdullahi got that of Toro Federal Constituency as the member representing Katagum Federal Constituency, Auwalu Abdullahi Gwallabe, got the ticket for re-election back to the House.
