ABU, Aberdeen varsities to collaborate on reproductive health

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and University of Aberdeen in the U.K. have begun fine-tuning arrangements to establish linkages in the area of reproductive health. 
Peoples Daily learnt the collaboration is being facilitated by the Mac-Arthur Foundation.
Speaking during a recent visit to ABU, the head of the visiting team from Aberdeen, Julia Bussien, described the partnership as rewarding to both institutions.
She said the role of her team was to understand ABU’s vision and what it required from the collaboration in terms of the university’s vision.
Julia noted that members of the team had years of experience with the Mac-Arthur Foundation as resource persons and promised that the team would explore the possiblity of collaborative research.
She said focus will be on ABU’s Masters Degree in Public Health Programme (MPH) through the introduction of courses like maternal and child health, epidemiology, health planning and monitoring. 
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, said the university was eager to see to the take off of the collaboration.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Idris Isah-Funtua, urged the ABU team to speed up the proposal, adding that it was a major boost for the university.
