Mrs. Cecilia IbruMrs. Cecilia Ibru, until August last year the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oceanic Bank Plc, was yesterday convicted of fraud and sentenced to six months in jail by a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. She got away with this light sentence apparently because she had entered a plea deal with her accuser, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). However, she would forfeit over N190 billion in cash and assets to the government.

 

Arewa group wants Jonathan impeached over Oct 1 bomb blast comments

A pressure group, Arewa Citizen Action for Change (ACAC), on Friday, dragged the National Assembly to a Federal High Court sitting Abuja, seeking an order of mandamus to compel the lawmakers to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan over his statements on the October 1 bomb blasts in Abuja.
