A religious scholar resident in Suleja, Niger state, Malam Haliru Madaki has expressed concern over what he describes as an alarming increase in rape cases being reported in the town.

Haliru who is also a social worker engaged in giving succour to the less privileged and victims of rape told Peoples Daily that, on the average, a young girl was raped every week.
