By Adoyi M. Aba & Kandi B. Mohammed

This year’s National Agricultural Show begins today at its permanent site, kilometre 18, Tudun Wada, along Abuja-Keffi expressway, Nasarawa state.

The annual Show, organised by the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), a non- governmental organisation, in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Nasarawa state government, aims to bring together farmers, agricultural experts, international organisations and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector, to exchange ideas for enhanced food production and national food security.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of NAFN, Dr Abdullahi Adamu (Sarkin Yakin Keffi), explained, at a press conference organised by the Foundation, last week, in Abuja, to brief the public on the level of its preparedness for the Show, that: “The Show will, among other things, showcase the country’s abundant agricultural potentials, recourses and products to consolidate past achievements and open the way for an improvement in the future development of agriculture.”

He also said the Show was primarily targeted at local farmers who, according to him, were the major beneficiaries and, therefore, urged them, as well as commercial bank, industries, politicians and members of the public, international organisations and donor agencies to turn out in their numbers to attend it.
