Katsina govt. awards road contracts

The Katsina State government last year awarded contracts worth over N25.6 billion for various road projects which are now being constructed across the state.

 The state Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Musa Sada, who disclosed this in an interview with the Peoples Daily in Katsina, said the road projects were being executed in all the three senatorial districts of the state.

Monetisation: FG hands over 170 houses

Head of Service of the Federation, Ms Amal Pepple, has said that the monetisation policy was aimed at enabling public servants own their personal houses and plan for a more comfortable post-service life.

Pepple, who made the remark recently while handing-over 170 units of owner-occupier houses to the federal civil servants in Abuja, said the scheme was embarked upon to make houses affordable to civil servants.

Removal of immunity not panacea to good governance – Oshiomhole

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, has said that the removal of immunity from all political office holders may not solve the leadership problem the country is currently faced with.

Oshiomhole, who said this during an interview with our correspondent in Abuja recently, said there is a huge gap that needed to be filled and that the question had to be revisited under the present reform programme.

Benue’s budget of controversy

Three weeks ago, Governor Gabriel Suswam presented the 2009 budget estimate christened "Budget of Consolidation" to the Benue State House of Assembly. 

Since then a lot of dust has been raised about the N51 billion budget proposals as most economic analysts in the state described it as faulty and lopsided. They argue that it failed, like the 2008 budget, to make allocation for several ministries, and that it is shrouded in so much dubiety and secrecy.
