Coordinator of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fadama III project in Gwagwalada, Alhaji Abdullahi Salisu, has charged officials handling the implementation of the scheme to focus on best practices that would safeguard the environment.
He gave the charge at the weekend, during a two-day intensive course organised for desk officers and facilitators in Gwagwalada to enlighten them on how to address environmental hazards confronting communities, especially rural areas in the territory.
The coordinator noted that the workshop was aimed at empowering the participants with the prerequisite knowledge on how to ensure that quality is not compromised at the course of implementing the projects,
He said: "As a result of human activities, the environment is gradually becoming more hazardous for human habitation, thus if any project would have to withstand the test of time, it has to be in conformity with the contemporary environmental and social precautionary standards."
He, therefore, stressed the need to pay more attention to the ecosystem as it affects structures put in place for the benefit of the people and success of the third face of the scheme.
In his remark, the environmental officer of the scheme, Mr. Babatunde Barisaye, expressed optimism that the implementation of the third face would be better than the previous ones, assuring that more emphasis would be laid on environmental hazards.
