The Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has advocated a comprehensive reform in all the sectors of Nigerian economy.
Sanusi believes that total overhaul of the economy holds the panacea for enhance wellbeing of the citizenry, eradicating poverty and ensuring national security.
The CBN governor spoke in Abuja as guest lecturer at the graduation lecture of the National Defence College Abuja titled, “Economic reforms and national security: challenges and opportunities”, a statement by CBN spokesperson, Mohammed M. Abdullahi said.
Sanusi listed economic deprivation, unequal society as exemplified by lack of jobs, education, and lack of food for the teeming youths as responsible for social upheavals.
It is this situation said CBN boss that makes the youths feel they have no stake in the country.
In his welcome address, the Commandant, National Defence College, Rear
Admiral Thomas Lokoson commended the courage exemplified by Sanusi noting that such qualities have resulted in the timely restoration of confidence in the banking system of which the positive signs are already being noticed in the economy.
