A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr. Kenneth Imasuangbon, has charged Nigerians to insist on credible, free and fair elections in the next year’s general elections.
Imasuangbon, a PDP governorship aspirant in Edo state, who spoke in an interview in Abuja on Nigeria at 50, commended the founding fathers of Nigeria for their efforts to put this nation together and for their aspirations to make Nigeria one of the greatest countries in the world.
He distanced himself from those who hold the view that Nigerian has nothing to celebrate.
According to him, "There is need for us to celebrate and need for us to reposition our country.
"I don't believe that we have failed. I salute our past leaders for their efforts to stabilise this country.
"There is hope for a better tomorrow. The past has not all been too badly though there were disappointments.
"If we start today, the whole world will halt and hail us.
"So, I will want Nigeria to start by making sure that the 2011 general election is credible, free and fair.
"The next year general elections should be an opportunity for us to prove our critics wrong that something good can come out of Nigeria.
"We, as a people, should intensify our prayers for the good of Nigeria because our good being lies in the good of Nigeria.
The PDP chieftain, who is also the Chairman of Pacesetter Schools, advised Nigerians to take the next year election serious by making sure they participate in the upcoming voter registration and subsequently voting a candidate who will place the country first in all his leadership time.
He said, "If you don't register, you can't vote and if you didn't vote, you wouldn't have any moral right to criticise a bad leader because you had the opportunity to stop him from getting to power".
